Alert | Dear CJSHA, My name is Bill Licopoli and I represent the National Ball Hockey League (www.nationalballhockeyleague.com). We would like to invite teams from your ball/dek hockey league as well as from adult street/ball hockey leagues around the country (including draft, co-ed, Bronze, Silver, A, B, etc.) to participate in a national playoff. This is our inaugural year and we would like to spread the news about this playoff format. It is different than other tournaments in that we only permit teams that participate in local leagues such as in the CJSHA. Players are not allowed to create 'tournament/all-star' teams as with other tournaments. We think this allows a better competition for a true national championship plus we do not interfere with any of the current successful tournaments offered around the country. This format also encourages more people to play in local leagues. If there are enough teams (6 or more) to register in New Jersey (from Somers Point, cjsha, Tab Ramos, South Jersey Dek, etc. ...not sure of others in NJ), we would host a state tournament ($650 per team) during the first weekend in October in New Jersey (at a 'neutral' indoor facility). Top teams from New Jersey (and all other states) will then qualify to participate in the National Playoff (only $250) in Orlando, FL in December (cheapest time for travel). If there are only 5 or less that register in the state, they will automatically qualify and will only pay the $650 fee to compete in Orlando. The winning prize for the best team is $1850 plus additional trophies, etc. New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, California, and New York seem to have the largest number of leagues and teams that are currently registering for the NBHL playoffs. I would also like to ask any of the officials in your dek hockey league if they would be interested in joining us in developing this league as we continue to grow each year. Officials also earn money and will have paid weekends to officiate, including hotel, flight, food, etc. We would love to have you join us. We also are offering $50 to the league president/presidents for each team that registers from your league. We thought this would be a great incentive to start from (and possibly continue through the next few years as we grow). Thanks again for your time and do not hesitate to forward this email to other leagues/teams that you think might be interested. I've contacted the captains for the teams from this past season as well. Please visit our website or give me a call if you have any other questions.
